God’s love

by Bobby Ratliff on September 16, 2011

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

—Romans 5:8

An encouragement I received from the Tenth Avenue North concert. God doesn’t need to demonstrate his love to us any other way. He doesn’t owe me anything. I can’t say, God, show me that you love me by giving me good friendships, or by giving me good grades, or by giving me a perfect career, or by giving me a girlfriend. He already has shown me that he loves me in the most amazing way! Through the death and resurrection of his son, Jesus Christ.

Ah, I just can’t believe it is so easy to forget this. So many of us take this for granted forgetting it is a privilege and a blessing to have someone who loves us SO much as God does!! He could have chosen NOT to die on the cross to save us, but he DID. How cool is that? I consider myself a Christian, yet there are many days I go without thinking twice of what Christ did for me. I let issues of this world take too much of my heart when I should look towards God instead. It’s never too much to be reminded daily of what Christ did for us…

Thanks Bobby for the reminder!
